My past time is playing online games via Xbox Live, FPS games such as MW2 and BFBC2 are on the top of my list. I'm currently subscribed to plan 1299 768kbps down/384kbps up. My wife on the other hand likes to read blogs which has a lot of pictures, stream some videos through youtube, send emails the usual stuff that we do in the Internet..
The current broadband subscription is enough for my usage but whenever the 2 of us use the Internet together, my gameplay experience suffers from lag even just a visit to a newspaper site such as inquirer and philstar. My question is, would subscribing to 2mbps solve the problem of having a lagging game or would it minimize the lag on my part or should I look for a router that has traffic shaping capabilities?

You have several options, depending on your current setup:
1) Get a separate connection for the wife.
2) Enable QOS on your router and put your gaming ports on highest priority.
3) Upgrade to a higher speed plan.
Question: what router model are you using now to share the Internet?
Thanks josekym for taking the time to read this thread.
1. Very good suggestion. The thing here is my house is designed such that the telephone wire is hidden (nasa loob ng tubo). I'm thinking that if I'm going to add another line using the existing pipe will there be any interference kasi may existing ng nakalatag na telephone wire (jacketed wire) for my existing PLDT? If I'm going to go on this route I'll probably get Globe lines.
2.) Suggestion #2 is ok too but my router only supports QOS for VOIP.
3.) Well actually ginawa ko na nga at tumawag na ako sa PLDT. To back out I have to shell 500 pesos.. The thing here is if I'm going to stay on the 2mbps plan of PLDT will it solve somehow my problems, ok na ako sa paminsan-minsan na incidents na less lag? Iniisip ko kasi baka pag nag youtube siya kainin na naman ni wifey iyong buong 2mbps na daan LOL. eh di balik na naman sa lag.
