i just found out that PLDT myDSL is available in sucat, paranaque. i am new to DSL, i wonder how fast can 256Kbps get when you download a 700 MB file?
ok sana ang 999/month promo nila. pero mabilis kaya yun? kung mabagal naman kagaya ng dial-up wag na lang. sa plan 1995 na lang ako. pero may lock-up din ba yun? what if later on i decide to terminate myDSL 1995, will there be any hidden charge?
your input will be greatly appreciated.

he he he.. obvious naman siguro na ang 256 kbps eh mas mabilis sa 56kbps na ginagamit ng dial-up modem...
the best thing you can do is visit the nearest office in your area to find what things you will need as well what kind an dhow this offer can avail.. i do believe visiting their website is nice try to have an info on this promo..

thanks for the info. sorry, hindi kasi ako familiar sa bilis ng DSL:) just making sure i would be choosing the right package. i read on other threads, 256Kbps is just the maximum possible speed. it could get worse, like the dial-up connection. anyway, i am really curious. how fast can it get to download a 700MB file with 256kbps access? 3 hours? or less? if you have any idea. thanks!

ah, ione, i think you were asking how long it takes (gaanong katagal) ang pag-download on a 256kbps connection.
-256kbps means 256 kilobits per second or roughly 32 kiloBytes per second. that's the maximum speed if that's the plan you subscribed for.
- a 700MB translates to 716,800 kBytes (1024 kBytes = 1 MB)
We then divide 716,800 KB/(32KB per sec) and get 22400 seconds.
This is roughly 6 hrs and 13.3 minutes. And since 256 kbps is you max speed, it means you will most probably have to wait a little longer than the time we just computed.
Hope it helps...

nice.... baud rate or transfer rate...
just divide your bandwidth by 8 and you get your transfer rate...

@ione
the pre-termination fee is 3x your MSF (1995x3) and the lock-in period is 1 year...hth
