You are right. Im lucky that my modem generated an IP that matched with whatismyip.com. I noticed a big difference in my connection speed.

^^You observed correctly. Although if you think about it, one of the purposes of the proxy is to actually make access "faster" (i.e. it is a closer network access point). However, it may actually introduce other bottlenecks in the system. For example, if the proxy server is highly utilized (overloaded) or poorly configured, then we subscribers feel the effects of these in more than one form (e.g. slow browsing speed, incomplete pages, unusual time-out errors, "connection reset by peer", etc.).

I learned that from you LOL. In my observation proxy isnt good for me coz it makes my connection extremely slow and some sites are unaccessible.

globe's transparent proxy is unreliable!!! TCP error sucks big time!!!
shame on you globelines... singtel (share holder of globelines) can't you do anything to improve globelines???
improve your transparent proxy, or better yet remove it!
improve your BRAS authentication, or better yet remove it!
improve your DSLAM bandwidth port shaping, include the 13% header loss!

i'm using globe broadband wireless w/ 1MB
but i'm still having a poor downloads and poor in gaming online....
